The word Entertaiment has a complicated history. It has roots in the Medieval Latin intertenere, which means “to hold inside,” and it likely goes back to the Indo-European root ten, which meant to stretch. Entertaiment can encompass many forms, from theater to music to film and games. It often reveals the darker parts of life such as social backstabbing and murders, hitting on themes that our minds were evolved to react deeply to. The ability for entertainment to cross media is a reflection of its value to us as a society. [1]
