Entertainment is a broad term that has come to be associated with the idea of fun and amusement. This is because many entertainments have a lighthearted nature to them, although there are plenty of examples that could be seen as having more serious intent, such as the various types of ceremonial celebration or religious festival.

Entertainment has evolved and changed over time, for example hanging out with friends has now been replaced by chatting on social media platforms. It has also demonstrated an ability to cross over different mediums, resulting in the same themes and images appearing over and over again.
