Business services are activities that support a company’s mission but do not produce any tangible goods. They are intangible and include everything from IT services to accounting to marketing. These services are essential to keeping a business running and often times are outsourced as a way for a company to save money and focus on its core mission.
The services that are offered in the field of Business are very broad and can cover anything that a company might need, from basic utilities like energy to consulting about business finance or top level strategy. Some of the more common types of business services are financial, administrative, IT and management. A business may also offer design services, including a firm that creates logos and branding for clients or even a training service such as defensive computing training.
If you are a people person and have good interpersonal skills, a career in business services might be for you. There are many different careers in the field that require a degree and/or experience, but most of them are well-paid and allow you to enjoy working with others. Most of these roles are very sociable and you might find yourself interacting with other employees in the office on a daily basis as well as clients or customers outside of work. This might not be the best career path for you if you do not handle stress well as the job can be very demanding.
